Reception Academy London & Reception Academy Ghana
Reception Academy London, founded in 2010 by a group of hoteliers, aimed to provide an alternative to costly university degrees for those pursuing hotel careers. Before Acadevate’s involvement, some training outlines were already in place. Our initial task was to research required training, compare it with existing materials, identify gaps, and uncover opportunities. We collaborated with software providers to benefit Reception Academy students, hoteliers, and the software provider. Simultaneously, we designed a typical classroom, complete with practice areas like a fully functional, five-workstation hotel reception desk. Course workbooks, training slides, and hands-on materials were created to make Reception Academy courses engaging and practical. The London branch now trains over 1000 students annually, and the concept’s success has led to the creation and launch of Reception Academy Ghana.
Colliers International
Colliers International approached Acadevate to establish new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across their organisation. While existing SOPs were in place, there was no effective training on how to read, interpret, and implement them without monotony. We proposed two sets of training: one for managers and supervisors, emphasising SOP importance, reading techniques, and improvement strategies; and another for front-line colleagues, focusing on personal benefits from SOPs and practical application in daily work. Both sets of training had to be fun, engaging, and interactive.
While we can’t reveal all our secrets, we can say that this was the first time we transformed a classroom into an aircraft, with trainers as pilots and stewards/stewardesses, taking team members on an unforgettable flight.
